Not the metro but the train from London to Paris or Edinburgh. Both lines are very frequent.
London St Pancras International to Paris Gare du Nord www.eurostar.com Takes just over 2 hours city centre to city centre
London Kings Cross Station to Edinburgh www.virgintrainseastcoast.com Takes about 4 hours 20 minutes
We use £ sterling and not Euros
In August the Queen will be at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and therefore parts of Buckingham Palace will be open to the public. You can also visit Windsor Castle which is open daily and is a short train ride from London Paddington or Waterloo Stations

The Matro? The tube/London Underground only covers London. There are regualr trains (known as the Eurostar) from London St Pancras International to Paris and from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh. The UK hasn't had a King since 1952, we have a Queen, however, she spends her entire Summer (including all of August) at her personally owned estate, Balmoral, in Scotland. Whilst most of the EU has taken part in the Euro experiment, we here in the UK have retained the Pound (Sterling). Some shops in Central London accept Euros but most places won't and shops that do will result in an extremely bad excange rate
1 - you can get the train to both Paris (via Eurostar) and Edinburgh from London; both journeys are a few hours and neither is cheap unless booked well in advance
2 - there is currently no king; we have a Queen.
3 - you won't see the queen on your stay, irrelevant of her location
4 - no; the UK uses British Pounds Sterling
From London, you can use the east cost line to Edinburgh from King's Cross (you can get there by East Coast and Grand Central trains). You can get the Eurostar to Paris from St Pancras. We don't have a king, but the queen is normally there, it depends daily. We use pound sterling (£) and not the euro, although most places won't accept Scottish pounds.
