They are mostly very much the same. However, if you are prepared to travel a bit further (1hr 37 min), you can reach Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth (Right next to Portsmouth Harbour Station). it's a very nice retailvillage with waterfront cafes and the Spinnaker Tower
No point going outside London when you have Westerfield at Stratford
Saint Albans or Luton maybe a good place to try, less than 1 hour by train
