No! Contact the city hall in the city where you were born. For a nominal charge, they will issue a raised seal one. Contact social security too.
You do not need a birth certificate to fly in your own country. A VALID photo ID issued by a governmental agency is used for ID. You can also get a plain ID to cash checks with or as a personal ID if you do not drive a car.
Go to the county you were born in to get the official birth certificate. It has a raised seal. Keep that one safe.
A birth certificate, original or copy, does not have your photo on it, so it cannot be used for ID for the airline.
Everybody accepts a certified copy of a birth certificate. I have no idea where my original birth certificate is. Probably lost eons ago.
Just write to the county in which you were born and ask for one.
No, ordinary copies are acceptable. You must have a certified copy of your birth certificate. If you do have a certified copy, you can use that. See 1st site below for how to get one if you need it. See 2nd site to get a replacement S.S. card. It can take a few weeks to get those, then it most states, it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get your state I.D. card...and you may not have enough time. Read 3rd site.
