I agree with Tyga. There are no downtowns in Peru. Cities are well built unlike the United States where everything is jammed, whatever way possible, into a little area.

Actually there are downtowns in most Peruvian cities (not Lima), the old colonial parts of town are traditionally the center. The focal point if the central area is usually a Plaza de Armas where there are some of the oldest and most important churches and some government offices. For a tourist in Cuzco, being near the Plaza de Armas (downtown) is a good thing. So I would check the location of the hotel. If it is part of the center you will need to check about transportation.

We have centros with plaza de armas, the stores nd stuff r scatteted through the city not like u.s where they're all jammed packed in a small place, right now Peru has the best economy in da world nd has been rated 1# by everyone, economy expanded 6,8 in 2 months, average growth rate around 7-8% per Semiestre, poverty goes down has gon down like 40%, unlike America Peru ain't in crisis so there's a lot of hotels, as far as cuzco it depends on ur pocket hotels range From 1 star to 5 stars, they're bout to open more high end hotels soon construction of them starting soon. U might have more hotel options but it depends when ur going Idk when ur planning

around the downtown you can choose by prices, they go from 15 to 50 dolars
