Costa Rica is better. It has many beautiful beaches just like Jamaica, but it is much safer!!! I went there by myself when I was 20, and had absolutely no problems. The public transportation is really user friendly, it is a spanish speaking country but many people speak english. On the caribbean coast they speak English, similar to the english spoken in Jamaica. Costa Rica has a huge variety of things to see and visit, it has near desert conditions on the guanacaste peninsula, where you can also see baby turtles hatch, you have the mountains with cloud forests, volcanoes, beautiful beaches everywhere, a number of different cultures, in San Jose there are cultural activities like theater performances. Why would you risk going to Jamaica?

Perks:
It is really nice out during the day and at night (for those late night out side) There is also alsorts of wild life wondering around, just about every where I looked there was a different animal. Jamaicans are really nice and always put you ahead of them, they are very easy to talk to and spend time with. At resorts there is the ocean and the chlorine pool of your choice, and many activitys to keep you busy. Jamaica is amazing I will defeninently going to be going there again!
Negatives:
Jamaica is a poor country but the resorts are top of the line.

Remember that Jamaica is an English speaking country. Your name suggests that you speak English
and by the same token you are more related to the English culture. Both are very interesting countries
but if you go to Costa Rica you will begin to be related with Latin American culture. There have been many problems with the economy of Jamaica in the past due to poor administration after they got their independence fromthe United Kingdom. Costa Rica has been more progressive economy.
For partying, Jamaica may have the edge but it is a pretty dangerous country (4th or 5th hightest homicide rate in World among countries not at war). Costa Rica can give you a lot more variety of experiences, you still have beaches but you have world class white water rafting and surfing for example and if you are interested in nature, there is much more biodiversity. Jamaica has more English of course but in terms of things to do there is more in Costa Rica.
Jamaica is potentially dangerous and poor. Costa Rica is beautiful and amazing. If you go to Jamaica instead of Costa Rica I will slap you.
i think jamaica is much much better if it is for the family costa rica has many beautiful beaches but most speak spanish. in jamaica although some parts are dangerous in all of the tourist attractions and most of the beautiful resorts are in the better parts so i would think for you to go to JAMAICA!!!!
Costa Rica has more to offer in terms of diverse nature: Rain forest/volcano/wild life, etc. Less risk to foreigners than many Countries in the region.
