What's the deal with these female Colombian names?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
Hello. I think in Colombia had a lot of immigrants from all over the world but I didn't know those names were from russia. I've heard some Natalias and Tatianas but olga is not so common , at least for the new generations.

Natalia and Tatiana are somewhat common in both Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries, even if the person has no Slavic roots. I don't know the reason for this. These names don't sound strange in these languages, on the contrary, I believe that's the reason.

Many Russian names popular in Latin America.

Lots of immigrants from all over the world.

All 3 have Spanish usages

I've met a fair amount of Colombianas and it seems a lot of them have russian names, like Olga, Natalia, Tatiana, etc. What's the story behind this? Is there some reason Eastern European names are popular in Colombia?
