As mentioned, the US fast food chains are widespread in Panama and serve much the same as in the US. Chinese restaurants are fairly common.
With reference to the three examples you mention - corn (maize) is a part of traditional Panamanian cooking - as flour for things like tamales.
Apples are not as common - I think they probably have to be imported.
Pasta - yes, especially spaghetti.
Panamanians eat a lot of fish, chicken, also pork, some beef.
Not many veggies in Panama. Lots of corn-based products, meat, empanadas, and beans. If you do get a salad it's going to be fairly basic.
While there are restaurant chains, they are only in big cities like Panama City and David. In smaller cities you won't be able to find any of these. It's all locally owned restaurants, including lots of Chinese food. You can also find some good seafood in areas closer to the coast, like Bocas del Toro or Playa Coronado.

McDonald's and KFC are the biggest places to eat in Panama, but people also eat rice, beans, platanos, and guava. There really isn't a big difference between what the average panamanian eats, and what the average american eats.
