Buenos Aires, pretty nice city, good food, very cultural city
Córdoba, very nice landscape, cool people, a lot of nature near the city
Bariloche, it's like Switzerland, if you like chocolate and snow, you will love that city
Mar del Plata, a pretty little city near the sea, you must to taste alfajores from there if you go
Hopefully you have at least a year to see all of these places! While it's nice having a stamp on your passport, the real joy in traveling is getting to know people, the culture, and geography of places. Spend at least 2 weeks in each country. Lonely Planet books is a great place to start your planning. There's also couchsurfing.org, which you can use to get to know locals and also has some great forums for travel advice. These are big countries with their pros and cons, so know what you're getting into. Make back up plans, and back-up back up plans. Lonely planet books are often availble at your library, are available for the nook and kindle, or you could stop by amazon.com or barnes and nobel to buy a copy.
Open 2 checking accounts from 2 different banks and store the cards in 2 different places so that you never lose them both. check with the banks to make sure that they can be used abroad, and see how much they charge for withdrawals abroad! Bring a credit card too, because while it may not be accepted everywhere, it'll help you avoid some of those fees!
Countries like Ecuador, Uruguay, and Paraguay are quite tiny so you could get a way with a week or two in each, but then you're not getting to know the people are spend too much time in any one city. I would suggest a month in each of the other countries.
Ufff... any. In Colombia Bogota, Cartagena, Santa Marta and Medellín. In Brazil... Salvador, Recife, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre. In Peru Cuzco. Ecuador Quito, Chile... don't know Argentina, either, Paraguay either... :P Buenos Aires is a must.
Hi, there are too many great things to see in South America to list, I have spent 2 years travelling there in the past 4 years and I go back in 5 days. I have written about it all at my site and have over 7000 photos that will show you what it is really like there. I have visited all the countries you are going to and am heading to Uruguay and Paraguay again over the next month. Have a great time!
