Venezuela is quite safe, maybe apart from Caracas. I backpacked for 7 weeks last year in Venezuela. Isla Margarita is beautiful, Merida and the highlands too. There are no wars there! Just use common sense like in any part of the world and you will be fine. Read about my travels there if you like at: http://www.southamericanpostcard.com/ven...
You can travel through venezuela............I do it with my wife all the time when I visit there. She only warns me of traveling at night, but she is very cautious, especially in caracas, but during the day, you are safe. There are no guerilla wars there, that is colombia. I am traveling there again in January, I never feel threatened or scared. I love it there, plan to live there someday.
We don't have problems with guerilla in Venezuela, I believe your mom is cunfusing Venezuela with Colombia, as matter of fact, as SouthAmericanPoster said, it is pretty safe outside the biggest urban areas (Caracas, Valenca and Maracaibo)
That sounds amazing. Just read more up on it to show her you will be fine. What other places have you backpacked through? I am a fellow backpacker as well.
It has the 2nd highest homicide rate on Earth. Do not be foolish.
So i really want to because its such a beautiful country but my mom says its too risky with all the gurrillia wars ? I dont know ? Whats your opinion ?
