Travel to USA vs Italy?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
Ok, so I have the opportunity to go to either Italy or the US. And I am having big troubles deciding which. I would really love personal opinions, suggestions, etc. From everyone. If I went to Italy I would go to: Turin, Venice, Florence, Pisa, Siena, Orvieto, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri, and Rome. If I went to the US I would go to: Knott's Berry Farm, Los Angeles, San Diego, Disneyland, Universal Studios, San Francisco, Pier 39, Union Square, California, Chinatown, Little Italy and Treasure Island.

I don't have a say or choice where I go in either countries as they are with tour trips and are my only options for travelling. Thanks!

Also: I am from Australia

G'day mate! (How's my accent? Been working on it.)

I live in the US and I've seen all the places you mention here, and most of them are really not that great. I could show you wonders in the US, especially since your trip seems to be all in my state. Except for Disneyland, most of those things are just touristy. Oh, Chinatown's pretty cool too.

But Italy! OMG, the scenery, the history, the art, the food! I would choose that in a heartbeat.

As much as we love Aussies here, I think Italy is a much better choice.

Well, personally, I would choose to go to California (and not because of the beaches and oceans and all that), but because I just find that there are so many more options to choose from, I think, in California, but hey, that's just in my opinion. But I must say, Italy is such an interesting place to visit as well. In Venice, instead of having roads all around the city, the streets are actually a canal in which different parts of the city are "linked" by bridges. Also, if you are interested in history, then Pompeii would be a good place to visit for sure. I cannot remember much about my visit to Capri, Pisa and Florence, and I do not recall visiting any of the other city's while visiting Italy, but I do have relatives that live in Italy, and who have been to most, if not all, the city's listed above, and they said it was wonderful. I did enjoy my visit to California though as well. The San Diego Zoo is an AMAZING place to go for those who enjoy animals and nature, I DEFINITELY recommend going there. In San Francisco, I highly recommend going to Alcatraz Island, it is a very interesting experience. Also, if you LOVE rollercoasters and amusement parks, then Disneyland and Universal Studio's are the places to go. In Chinatown and Little Italy, personally, I think it is so much fun to just wander and look around. I know that I did not mention much about the other places in CA, but that is because I either have never been there, or I do not remember much about my experiences at that location. So overall, if you prefer a bit more of a cultural experience and you find history and European culture to be much more of a wonderful experience, then Italy is the place to go! But if you prefer a bit more of a "flashy" scene and enjoy shopping, a variety of attractions to choose from, and you enjoy amusement parks, then California is just right for you! Again, I personally would choose California over Italy because of the different attractions and experiences to choose from. Don't get me wrong, I Am absolutely FACSINATED by history and different cultures around the world, and I also enjoyed my experiences in Italy just as much as I did my experience in California, but as I have said multiple times already, I personally would choose to go back to California. I hope that this helps:)

Well I'm in the USA but I haven't been to any of those places lol. Well there's a little Italy so it's kinda like going to both haha. But then again I see pics of Italy and it looks really nice. Honestly I'd probably go Italy

well I am also from Australia and have done all that you are considering

there is no decision to make ...

forget USA don't waste another moment even thinking

the ONLY choice is Italy...

the food the coffee the people the scenery the whole italian thing is wow

Italy, it'll be neater, nicer, and safer. The US is in the dumps and in total chaos. Italy has a more rich history and seeing the colosseum is a dream of mine so u have to go see it for me.
