Studying spanish in Latin America?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
Hi,

Colombia is a beautiful country home to a many wonderful, generous and diverse people. Like Norbert G said, many US cities are actually far more dangerous than many Colombian cities. In a recent study, Bogota is shown to be safer than major US cities New York and Washington D.C.

Colombia has now become known as the top destination to learn Spanish because it has been described as the best/easiest to learn and the most elegant. DO NOT listen to the media and their prospective of Colombia, it is all wrong. Colombia did (and still does) have its fair share of problems, but it has gotten better over the years. In 2013, Medellin was named the "most innovative city in the world" and is far more modern than Bogota.

I hope that you choose Colombia and get to see the true and real Colombia, not the media perspective. It is natural for your parents to worry, but tell them Colombia has changed and is now a wonderful country to visit.

Choose Colombia and you will never regret it. ????

Hi there,

Colombia is a beautiful country, the people are very friendly, incredible scenery, etc. I would not consider Colombia a dangerous country anymore. The very violent days are over. If you apply common sense you will certainly be ok. There are U.S. cities like St. Louis, New Orleans, Detroit, etc. which are way more dangerous than many cities in Colombia. What Spanish schools in Colombia are concerned, they are rather pricey. For learning Spanish you are much better off in Ecuador, Nicaragua, or Guatemala. It'll cost you about a little of half what you will pay in Colombia. I can give you websites of good Spanish schools in these countries if you like (I have been to all of them).

I saw a documentary about gang violence and organized crime in Colombia, especially Medellin. So I'm a bit biased when I say I wouldn't live there. Personally, I'd prefer Chile or Argentina. Both incredibly beautiful countries as well. And I happen to think Argentine Spanish is the prettiest of all south American Spanish.

Colombia is not dangerous at all. Small town in Colombia is also good to study.

You can learn a lot in short time! Visit this webpage.

no.. i've been there and nothing happened to me... it's a beautiful place. but why study spanish in Latin America when you can study online?

Panama is another place to check into . USD is used . Great airport .many cities,to choose from for classes .panama city .boquette .pedasi .chitre .coranado .

I an thinking to study Spanish in Latin America in the next few months. I have my heart set on Colombia, Bogota or Medellin, because it seems a beautiful place but everyone I talk to has told me it's a dangerous place, which I normally don't care much what others say except the people telling me are my my family and close friends! Does anyone have opinion?
