North Carolina has a much larger population and a more variety of cities. South Carolina is much more country. If you want the best of both worlds, Charlotte (the largest city in NC) has a large downtown with several 50-70 story skyscrapers. It is the second largest financial city in America behind NYC, so there are a lot of high profile jobs there. It is also home to the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Hornets (used to be the Bobcats). On the other hand, you drive 10 mins on the interstate and your in the woods with lakes, trees, and nature.
Hope this helps.
I would have to agree, Charlotte has a big financial center, but South Carolina pays less on gas and property taxes. If you want the best of both worlds, live somewhere in south carolina close to charlotte (rock hill), along the I-77 corridor to get into the city and out.
South Carolina at Hilton Head Island area is beautiful and it's less than an hour from Savanna, GA. Savanna is gorgeous and full of rich culture and great restaurants.
