I would say base it on what is on a good deal! Tenerife is amazing, I know what you mean by getting back to work and wishing you were on holiday again!! :) I'm just back from Egypt and wish I was away again!
Budapest is meant to be nice, Greece could be another good idea, or maybe Amsterdam!

Sounds good, but the other islands of that group have a lot to offer as well. E.g. there is a small village inside a crater in Gran Canaria - in a lush green environment, very different to the crater on Tenerife.
And of course La Gomera is beautiful as well.
It's a lovely time to go, it is the time of year you could really do with a holiday. Depending on your budget i would recommend the Sandos san Blas very close to the airport so no need for transfers just a taxi. It's all inc. so very little expenditure and great for just relaxing. Look on icelolly.com because they have very reasonable prices, or if you want to do it separately you can look on Kayak for cheap flights and there are many websites for rooms.
Go and enjoy yourself. You are only here once..... What are you working for? Nobody grows old wishing they had spent more time in the office! Dont be a slave to the wage packet. Get it booked and get her $&$&ed!
