Mariachi music may have originated in Mexico but it is popular for family celebrations throughout much of Latin America--not only in Guatemala. For example, there is a mariachi band hiring hall in San Jose, Costa Rica and you really can't have a wedding in Sucre, Bolivia without a mariachi band.

Do Guatemalan's listen to Mariachi music? Or is it mostly a Mexican thing? I am doing a project on Guatemala and want to know if it's ok to use Mariachi music. I can't get ahold of marimba music, which I think Guatemalan's listen to more.
