Is Chile a 1st 2nd or 3rd world country?

1st 2nd or 3rd world country was used during the cold war to refer to capitalist (first world) communist (second world) and neutral (third world). So there are none of any anymore. For some reason people started using the term to define supposedly developed countries or undeveloped ones. And Chile is mostly developed, Some areas are poor, but some areas in u.s. and europe are very poor too. Chile is very modern and wealthy, and many industries and companies are there. Here are some pictures of modern Santiago, Chile. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Santia... Chile also has a democratic government with regular elections, and Chile's Human Development Index is rated as "Very High". Chile's economy is growing very rapidly. Chileans are usually well educated and informed, and Chile does not seem to have as many poor or dirty areas as the u.s. or most other Latin American countries.

Chile would be 1st. It is a very well developed country, with all modern conveniences, sometimes more modern conveniences than in the US. Chile and Argentina are basically like Europe in South America. Argentina has a lot of street crime though. Chile is quite a bit safer.

Hi Paloma,

Chile is a 1st world country. It is the best developed country in South America.

Probably 2nd
