Holiday location suggestions?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
My mum has put me in charge of looking at holidays and I don't know where to look for. My parents don't want a holiday that revolves around sitting at a hotel or a beach, they'd probably like places with churches and museums and more historical things but with a nice beach or something. (So probably a less touristy location) They don't want it ridiculously hot (not anything exceeding 30 degrees really) and obviously as cheap as possible, preferably in Europe. Please give any holiday suggestions?

I would recommend Paris; there is so much like that to do there... Notre dame, saints chapelle and sacre cour come to mind easily for 'churches' and obviously there is the louvre for museums. It does lack a beach unfortunately, but does have the river seine which is magical to have a boat ride on.

It's fairly cheap also - last August me and my boyfriend went for a 4 night stay and was only £200 each (including flights, hotel, insurance etc).

If that's not good enough I've heard that Prague has the best of both worlds of what you described also.

Hope this helps!

I recommend you the island of Lesvos in Greece. It has many churches and monasteries that your parents will find very interesting because of their history.

Also the village of Molyvos is the best place to be because of its unique beauty. Molyvos has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site.

Furthermore there is a european community there because many ladies from all over the Europe have been mairred to local men. So your parents will feel like their home there.

Locals in Lesvos are very polite and don't really bother about how to get money from the tourists.

I have been to Lesvos and lived in Molyvos for about 9 months.

It was an amazing experience.

I am sure will parents love this place. Take a look at the source.

How about a Baltic Sea cruise? You'd typically go to places like Kopenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallin and St. Petersburg. So you'll have lots of culture and see many different places without changing your hotel, as you'll stay on the ship. You could book land excursions or explore the cities on your own. For St. Petersburg, you should book the excursion as you'd otherwise have to get a Russian visa on your own which is kind of expensive.

Sweden is a nice country with nature you can hike or see nice towns. A really cheap thing is a Stuga: a small house with beds and a table and chairs (a kitchen) they are everywhere and they are very cheap you can cook in a small central building and eat there. It's really fun

Portugal - Lisbon and surrounding areas come to mind. I'm not sure about the temp though, so it would depend on what time of year you are going
