El Salvador was never a part of mexico...?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
hat's a fact not a question. My parents are salvadoran, and that was school history over there.

Actually, all of Central America was part of Mexico between 1822 and 1823. Only Chiapas - a Guatemalan province - decided to become a state of the Mexican Federation. I think you should pay more attention to your history class.

Edit: It's quite clear you don't. El Salvador was part of the Kingdom of Guatemala - which was part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain - during the Spanish rule. After New Spain declared its independence in 1821, it became known as the (First) Mexican Empire or simply México.

At this point the Mexican Empire covered everything from Alta California and Texas to Costa Rica. So from the annexation of the Kingdom of Guatemala in Jan 1822 to the end of the Mexican Empire and the creation of the Federal Republic of Central America in June 1823 El Salvador was part of Mexico.

Why the strong feelings about if it was or if it wasn't?

There are many mexicans married with salvadorians in the US and there is nothing wrong with that... the mexicans love the salvadorian customs and the salvadorians enjoy the mexican customs, so just let it be!

Mexican-American married to Salvadorian

I've been to El Salvador 5 times and love it and my salvadorian family there... my hubby has been to Mexico 3 times and loves it and enjoys hanging out with his mexican family too.

If you do not have a question, then stay off Y/A. You are required to ask a question.

No NEVER. was and never WILL

that's a fact not a question. My parents are salvadoran, and that was school history over there.
