I am from Southern California and have been to Colombia several times, and most recently I was three months in Cartagena. I have met a number of Colombian girs, in Cartagena and elsewhere in Colombia. I find that Colombian girls/women are very friendly, open minded, fun to be with, sophisticated, and they take good care of themselves.
I would not consider Colombia a dangerous country though. Yes, Colombia had its problems mostly related to the drug trade, the FARC, etc., however, the situation has improved quite a bit and I always felt safe in Colombia. Looks like that your friend needs some up-to-date info about Colombia.
I have been to all over South America, Central America and other parts of the world, and Colombia is probably my most favorable country.
The stereotype of Colombian violence still exists even though much of Colombia is safe and Ven
ezuela, Honduras, Guatemala and Jamaica are more dangerous.
I would say colombian girls don't cover themselves much, use tight and colourfulo clothes, shorts, a small vest and the talk loud. I found out this because there are many coilombians coming into my country and we could see the difference.

In my experience, Colombian women are intelligent and beautiful.
So Im colombian and I was sitting in my class one day and we somehow got to the topic of death and how it smells like and then I was like, "well it must smell bad because its dead" and then this girl was like "you would know..." and then I was like, "how would I know?" And then she was like, "oh, cuz you know, your from Colombia with all the dangerous people and killers" she didnt mean it in an offensive way though but it still kind of piss me off a bit, anyway, what else do you guys think about us and I know about the drug stereotype so dont bother mentioning it. So yeah thanks :)
