I have virtually done it except I have not yet crossed the Pacific , I travelled west from England to the USA central and east coast one year and have travelled extensively in Europe.
The past few years I travelled the middle east and S.E Asia but concentrate a couple of months each year in Indonesia and surrounding countries , I have visited Australia but not New Zealand yet.
Last bit would be New Zealand to South America.
I am fortunate that I can take 3 months a year travelling being in my mid 20's.
I like to do things in manageable chunks it helps especially with countries that require pre arranged visas and compulsory vaccinations.
Well it depends. It would cost a lot of money and time to hop on an airplane, get off in a foreign country, look around, jump back up to the airplane, and jump off in a different country. Obviously you may not have enough money to do this in every country around the world, it would take too long, because you at least need to spend a couple of days touring the cities of the countries. I suggest maybe choosing three or four countries in the world that you could visit in the period of a month or maybe less and then spend maybe about a week in each of those countries to fully experience them. Look around the internet for touring groups you can you than visit several countries within the same continent. There is a cruise called the World Cruise which takes you around the world within the course of one year, but it is really expensive.
lf your parents have never travelled, they really should start small and
see how they like it. Many people like the idea of travel, but not
the actual experience of it. Your parents could very well fall in that
catagory, as they have never made it a priority to explore.
So, start with something that is exotic, but essentially like home,
say Hawaii. (if you are from the US.) and see how a 3-4 weeks goes.
There, they can try bus tours, self drive, flying, sight seeing, and
start to figure out what they really like.
Some people love cruising, others guided trips. Some like adventure
trips, some like laying on a beach and drinking. Some like self
drive, or walking or flotilla sailing tours. lt's up to them to decide what
they are the most interested in. What l think is the best travel
experience l have ever had may not be for the next person. This
all depends on your personal taste. There is no such thing as
a best way, it's a way that you like the best.
Hi there,
I have traveled all over the world many times and enjoy it very much. I am about your parents age. A lot of things depend how much money they have to spend, how many countries they would like to visit, what kind of accomodation are they looking for, how much time can they afford to go, etc.
To travel around the world I would suggest a minium of 6 months (honestly), otherwise you just fly from one country to another and don't experience anything. If you parents don't have that much time they should maybe focus on one region. I myself travel a lot to South America because it is amazing there, so many things to see and to do, friendly people, and relatively inexpensive. I usually stay at hostels where I meet people from all over the world. You can book inexpensive accomodation through the following websites:
