Antarctica is located at the South Pole surrounded by the Southern Ocean. 98% of the area is covered by ice and is the driest and coldest continent on earth. This region covers around 14 million square kilometres which is half the size of the United States.
The Antarctic Treaty was signed in 1959 by 12 countries; to date, 49 countries have signed the treaty. The treaty prohibits military activities and mineral mining, prohibits nuclear explosions and nuclear waste disposal, supports scientific research, and protects the continent's ecozone. Ongoing experiments are conducted by more than 4,000 scientists from many nations.

REALLY? Different countries look after Antarctica and they are usually scientists. They have different bases, so for example USA has McMurdo Base and New Zealand has Scott Base close by but Australia etc also have sections of land which they caretake and investigate. The peopel who live there are NOT PERMANENT. They might stay over the summer. I know of scientists who go there most summers. A few overwinter but much less people do this.

Antarctica is not attached to Canada. Antarctica is at the South Pole. The Artic is not a land mass by a frozen ice pack.
By U.N. declaration, Antarctica is an international area (no countries may have claims there). Many countries have permanent scientific operations there, though.
