This can't be right can it?

You have a legal right to a refund. The shirt is falling apart and is not of merchantable quality. Go back to the shop and demand your money back. Point out the Sale of Goods Act and threaten them with Trading Standards for misleading customers about their rights.

You should of accepted the gift card. That's practically a refund. You could either keep it and spend it on something else there, I've never had a bad buy there. Or if someone's birthdays coming up maybe you could give them the gift card?

That might be their policy, but too bad - they can't refuse a refund if goods are not 'of merchantable quality' (ie they don't do what they should).

Contact your local Trading Standards Office (contact info on your local authority's website).

Should of taken the gift card, but they should of Gave you a refund most stores do. And wow B*tchy counter person much . She could get fired for being rude to the customers . I think.

I brought a 15 pound cycling shirt for sports dirrect and right down the middle the sewing seam has started to come apart in some places I have only worn in 3 times

So this morning I went to get a refund but got told by the woman behind the till our pollicey said we don't do refunds

I asked to speak to the manger he said what I can do for you is give you a 15 pound gift card but I'm not going to be buying anything from there again

I politely said to him there is one for 40 pounds is thier any chance he could give me half price but he said no

So at the moment I have got a damaged shirt surely they should give me my money back shouldn't they??

What made it worst was the person behind the till turntable around to me and said I told you that you couldn't get a refund I just ignored her and walked out
