Try your local area. Your local advertising magazines that are free from collection points locally.
Is there a Parish Magazine for local people as they run local trade advertisements for very little charge. Corner shops and notice boards and advertising boards in supermarkets where business cards can be left.
Building a solid local trade will work wonders as word of mouth will spread your business far quicker than hundreds of advertisements.
Perhaps some charitable work with your local volunteer bureau and a few simple freebies with the elderly once a week will spread the word as well.
Sorry, don't know about advertising in London, thankfully i got out of there 20 years back.
Nice card, very well done in fact, BUT
To me it immediately sends 2 messages ~ neither desirable.
The first being that the business is a 'One Man Band' . Where is the Land line number which indicates an established business base ?
The second being the Photo. A good image but more applicable to a Painter Decorator than a general multi- skilled builder. Painter Decorators are 10 a Penny (essential though they are).
Insurance companies look for well established Contractors with proven track records.
When my son started off as self employed (I.T. engineer), he put bundles of leaflets wherever he could
He put them in take- aways -chinese , indian, italian etc
He put adverts in local free newspapers,
He also had a website
So think about a website, with testimonials included, as well as previous customers comments0genuine off course
A website can include photos of work he has done along with the customers testimonial
Once he does business for a company, ask the company if you can include them and their logo
on the website
Think about how you look for a tradesman yourself
Where would you look ?
A website is more professional than just an e.mail address
A landline number also, is more professional than just a mobile
Have a landline that diverts to the mobile, if that suits you better
that's just a few idea of how my son got his business off the ground years ago
