Is it legal to distribute leaflets door-to-door on a university hall of residence?

Ask them and see. What is legal or illegal about it. It depends on the Unis policies.

UK

It's legal. Local restaurants do it, jahova witness do it, you are allowed to do this, if I were you I would run it buy the campus security and the RA (residence assistant) the RA might just actually do it for you and save you work. Your idea is also good too hiring a few students. But talk to the dormitory security and inform them on your reason for being there and they help you from there.

People often get a bit too hung up on the 'legal' bit and overlook the simple, obvious solution: ask the university authorities and that way there's no chance of a perfectly sensible idea coming back to bite you.

"legality" has nothing to do with it

What HAS got to do with it is uni policy

Ask them and find out.

I run a small local advertising company and some of my customers want to advertise directly to students. The best way to do this is by delivering promotional leaflets to the halls of residence at the two major, local universities.

I'm not entirely sure where I stand legally when doing this. Is this illegal, frowned upon or acceptable?

To be honest, I would probably hire a few students to do the delivering, so it would benefit them.

Any advice would be appreciated.
