The guys are DEAD RIGHT.... "DO NOT - - UNDER ANY CIRCIMSTANCES - - Have your Domain/Website Hosting & Domain Name from/with the same company.
Although they BOTH state this, they didn't tell you why?
Here's WHY?
If at any time in the future you have a problem with your HOSTING company, say for instance... A **** load of SPAM is sent out with "Your Domain Name" as the sender, or God forbid, your site is hi-jacked and a SPAMER sends out MILLIONS of emeils in Your Name...
And your HOSTING COMPANY get tons of complaints... They'll SHUT DOWN your HOSTING and because your Domain Name is with them as well, They'll disable your Domain Name, and I've heard it wouldn't be the first time GoDaddy has done this.
But if your HOSTING & DOMAIN NAME are with different companies, if your HOSTING COMPANY shuts you down.... You simply get a new HOSTING COMPANY - - RE-UPLOAD your website from your BACK-UP FILES on your computer (You Should ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS have an up to date BACK-UP copy of your website on your LOCAL computer), Redirect your DONAIN NAME to POINT to your NEW HOSTING COMPANY & your back in business while you sort out the mess with your old HOASING COMPANY.
But if both your DOMAIN NAME and HOSTING are with the same company... You're SC#%@ED.
As have been mentioned above, I use GoDaddy to register my domain names & HostGator to HOST my websites.
All you have to do is.... Once you have registered your chossed domain name, and I know GoDaddy's SALES PAGES/UPSELLS are a pain in the a@$e, you simply POINT your DOMAIN NAME to your HOSTING COMPANY.
You are obviously NEW to all this, so if you wish... You can call or text me me on (Frm the UK) 07 837 440 498, (Frm the rest of the world +44 (0)7 837 440 498 and I will spend some time with you and TALK you through the PROCCESS,and HELP you any way I can.
If you have SKYPE, text me your details and we can arrange a time that suits both of us an TALK.

To have a website online there are no distinct charges:
1.Domain name registration. This is a yearly fee but you could register a domain name for 2/5/10 years with you so desired.
2.Hosting. Most hosting packages are based on a monthly fee but you could pay for 12months with some hosts.
It is recommended that you do not use the same company for both ie Godaddy for both domain name registration and hosting.
Before you create a website like facebook ot tumblr you need to learn a lot on creating and managing websites sowhy don't you have a blog to start with. Good hosting companies such as Hostgator supply the Wordpress blog script for free as part of their hosting package. Plus there is a lot of free info available on installing and configuring Wordpress - just google for it.
Many of the free site hosts allow custom domain names, like you would get at Godaddy for about $12 a year, some of these hosts have strings and may require a paid upgrade to use a custom name.
Using a blog platform would be the easiest way to create a site without having to do any programming, Google's Blogger.com is a popular blog host, it's not the most sophisticated but there are a number of predesigned theme looks you can pick from, to get a feel for the look of Blogger sites, try a Google search for: site:blogspot.com your interest
To minimize the programming involved in creating a conventional site you can start with a web site design template, like from TemplateMonster.com you might e able to find a freelance developer who could help setup such a site in a couple of hours, these people can be fond on marketplaces like odesk.com, elance.com, vworker.com this would probably only make sense if you really needed professional looks and special functionality. A predesigned template might be under $100 you might be able to learn how to setup and edit it yourself with a special visual html editor, one popular free example is Kompozer. Getting a site designed from scratch can be many hundreds or a few thousands dollars.
A tradeoff is to get your own paid hosting account and use the easy insaller to setup the industry standard blog engine, Wordpress on your site, there are more plugins and free/paid themes available for wordpress, some 17% of the top 1 million sites use Wordpress. They offer a free hosted, slightly limited version of wordpress at wordpress.com, you have to pay a bit to get a custom domain name.
Godaddy does offer a ton of upgrade options when you buy a name there, the hosting they offer is nothing special. One alternative with the pages of up-sells is Namecheap.com
Some advise not getting the domain name and hosting in a bundle deal, it's standard procedure for the $8/month sort of hosting packages, cheaper and more expensive hosting offers may not include a domain name. Some of these hosting companies make it difficult or expensive to transfer your site name to another host.
This free course will explain the hosting process and the domain name process, as well as teach you how to build and market a WordPress based website. I built it for my customers who want to build their own website, so they can see what is involved in actually doing it. Take thus 7 lesson course, and you will have a up and running website when you finish.
The only thing stopping you is taking action, the entire process in laid out for you, and I am available for questions from the site.
Antar,
Stop working so hard, go to Weebly. They have great videos to walk you through building your site. (if I can do it, anyone can), and they are beautiful and very professional looking. The give you a domain name of your choice, and they host it for you, all for free. Actually you can make two sites, with as many pages in each as you like. Again, all free. Enough said....
