It would be completely irresponsible to your own future to entrust your valuable idea to anyone other than a patent attorney who can properly advise you of your options.
A valuable idea deserves valuable legal advice, which you cannot possibly get from anyone but your own attorney. An "invention development" company cannot possibly be your attorney - only a law firm can be your attorney.
Add: Lot of bad advice here, this morning... A USA patent lasts for 20 years from filing the application. No patent is necessary for selling any idea. No "working prototype" is EVER needed in the process of getting a patent; at least not in the last century or so. A patent does NOT protect your idea. The idea is free for anyone in the world to use, once your patent application is published. A patent only gives you the right to sue people who make, use, sell, or import your claimed INVENTION in the countries where you invention is actually patented and infringed.
As the inventor assistance services state in their disclaimer, most people don't profit from their ideas.
THe first step would be a patent search, to see if someone else has beat you to the idea. A working prototype may be needed to qualify for a patent, you can do a search at the U.S. patent office:

a patent will protect your idea from being copied by someone else, but only for 10 years. then you must improve or make the idea ( product ) better beyond a certain level to get a new patent; otherwise when the patent expires ( 10 years ) other people have the right to produce your same product and label it with their own brand.
