Comment on blogs, try yahoo answers as well. Submit your site to relevant directories as well.
What's important is that you get a backlink from a site that is relevant to the web industry and seo, and there's a ton. You might also want to try guest blogging.

I have a small web design company highflightdesign.com. I have been building it up slowly over the past year or so and initially focussed on getting to number one for my local town. I am number one for "Folkestone Web Design".
My secondary goal has been to get to first page for "Web Design Kent" which is the county that my company is based in.
I have been building backlinks mainly via the footer links on client sites, which is what every other company is also doing. However I am aware that the authority of those domains will not be very high.
I have also submitted to applicable business directories etc.
I just wondered if anyone had suggestions of where to build backlinks for this kind of company?
I am also concerned about changing my keyword text on my homepage, as I am doing so well for my local town search results.
Any suggestions??

I hate to burst your bubble but finding any high quality backlinks for free is almost impossible. As soon as one springs up, EVERYBODY tries to get a link from it and soon it's pagerank drops. Being more broad about the type of links will get you further. But if you can't be swayed, this site will search for edu and gov backlinks relevant to you keyword. http://dropmylink.com/. reciprocal links nowadays can be easily caught by the search engines they were popular 10 years ago.

have you been in search with major search engine or social media, I'm sure you can get some good link back if you have some good stuff to offer back. Other wise people will spam you away.
I am looking for some high quality sites that I can get links from for web design and seo industry. Please do not suggest any spammy sites or reciprocal link exchange sites. I need good, high authority sites.
