HMV Gift Cards, what to do?

Posted at: 2015-03-04
keep hold of them for now there is a chance the company could be bought out and the vouchers will be able to be used then.

failing that the person who bought them if purchased on a debit or credit card (visa, mastercard or american express) should be able to get the money bank from their bank under a scheme called "Charge back", this is different than Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act which cover transactions over £100 on credit cards. Banks are supposed to refund the money to the card holder, although some bank staff seem never to have heard of "charge back" so may have to be persistent or go to the financial omnibus-man. more details on this web site.

EDIT:

supermarket giants Asda and Tesco say if you bought an HMV gift card from one of their stores and have proof of purchase, such as a receipt, you can exchange it for one of their own.

My advice to you is to hang on to them, if HMV finds a buyer then hopefully you can use them

It said in the papers they will be excepting them again from tomorrow - Tuesday 22nd Jan. they think a buyer has been found.

They are accepting them again from Tuesday. Spend them quickly, in case they do close down completely.
