Also that depends on what you are selling.

If you want to appeal to young people (possibly more male) you have to use the internet. Ages 5-50.

Ages 50-70 are grey zone. Both goes.

If you want your target are old people (possibly more female) then you can use paper. Ages >70.

I am in the 20-30 zone. Whenever I have a problem I look up in the internet. When I am Hungry I go online and fill out the online delivery. After 40 min the doorbell rings, I pay and eat. If you owned a restaurant and only had paper Ad I would have never visited.

I hope I helped.

PS. How old is your boss? I bet greyzone.

I'd say online advertising all the way - especially given the age of your customers! Take advantage of free online directories like BookMyCity.

It does depend on who your target audience is. If you are selling to an older demographic, newspaper is probably best. If you are selling modelling classes to 13 year old girls, then Facebook is obviously better.

you're kidding?

say you own a local mattress store

advertising in the paper is the way to go !!!

don't argue with the boss about this

My boss is a small business owner. She is convinced that doing a "press release" in the newspaper is more effective than using Facebook or any other free online media avenues. She is also convinced that the newspaper press release will provide more business than us having a website. If anyone has any sort of articles or data that can support my notion that people are more likely to google places than look in the newspaper that would be awesome. I just don't know what credible sources to use. Thanks in advance!
