I always tell them to send me the info to the address they have. If they can do that I ask where I signed up for it. Never give your card number.
It probably fake, but here is what you should do:
1) Ask for a phone number so you can call him back at a better time.
2) Ask for their website, and let him know you'll be doing further research on the company.
3) Tell him you know someone in the fraud detection department and you are a member of Life Lock
This will probably make him get off the phone with you right away.
Remember, never give out your personal info on the phone unless it is a trusted source that you deal with on a regular basis. Good Luck and Be Safe... it's the Holiday Season!
Be extremley careful, i dont think its legit but why would he need your card number?
No, it's fake. When people you don't know call you up and ask for your card number, it's always a bad idea to give it to them.
SCAM and illegal. It's against the law to ask you to pay ANYTHING to get your prize. You cannot be asked to pay for shipping and handling, processing, taxes or anything else. You need to report this to the FTC

"A Dozen Ways to Protect Yourself
The next time you get a "personal" letter or telephone call telling you "it’s your lucky day," the Federal Trade Commission encourages you to remember that:
Legitimate sweepstakes don’t require you to pay or buy something to enter or improve your chances of winning, or to pay "taxes" or "shipping and handling charges" to get your prize. If you have to pay to receive your "prize," it’s not a prize at all."
These are nothing but scams to get your credit card details so they can max out your card. There is no gas card
