3. Be the first with breaking news in your niche and by using RSS fees you visitors can subscribe and get the latest information.
4. Use Product Focused Content pages if you do this right you will accomplish these 5 things.
Address the true needs of your customer
Build additional trust and credibility
Further establish your expertise
Provide relevant info for the SE spiders
Attract additional targeted traffic!
5. Submit your site to high ranking directories.
There is a great eBook called "Make Your Site Sell" it is a great read and has some proven strategies for building traffic.
Here are some ideas for your consideration:
1) Article marketing - a great way to build a footprint and become an authority site.
2) Video marketing on YouTube
3) Use Bing/Yahoo for ads. Google has less of the market than you might think.
4) Social Media - Especially Facebook. Lots of info on setting up a page and dos and donts on their site. They take ads as well which are highly targeted.
5) Off line methods - magazine ads, old fashioned business cards, targeted mailing still valid in this modern world.

This may lead to random traffic, but with no common thread or unique content, no return visits. Or sales, for that matter - I don't go to commercial stores to read up about random crap on the Internet. There are better sites for that.

I have an online store selling Herbs to improve peoples health. The site is called Vitalherbs.co.uk and I sell Reishi, Cordyceps, Astragalus, Ginseng and many other herbs. I use google adwords and have a blog attached also but I would still like to get more traffic to my site.
