Some tools search Google using 100 results and some do 10 and some do 20. This will change your position because it will bring up more pages on the top sites. If Youtube videos are in the top 10 it might show 5 instead of 3 when you search 100 results at a time - just an example.

The best way to do it is to find a tool that searches 10 at a time. Or you can do it manually. To do this make sure you are signed out of your own Google account and clear your cookies/cache.

If you have Google chrome then use Incognito mode and if you have Firefox then use private browsing.

While keyword tools save you a ton of time and can give you a general idea of where you rank many of them won't give you the correct position. Some web based ones are pretty good such as Serp Buddy or SE Scout but they cost money. You can use keyword tools to get a general idea and then check the results manually for your top keywords to see exactly where they are.

When did you check your websites at different tools, ranking position differ after some time software work on a specific programming language and have some logic to deliver some results.

If you use Google Webmaster you'll see somewhat more accurate number (Traffic - Search Querries - Avg. position). Your position changes throughout the day so even though you might be number 3 when you look it's number 20 when someone else does and your average number is 9.

Check which number seomoz gives you, could be the average number.

I would suggest you to check manually for your keyword ranking.As ranking varies from tool to tool due to their changing programming and tendency how they take your keyword.Thus its better to check manually instead of checking by any other tools.

I want proper answer of my question. I ranked one keyword [ after effects templates ] in google.com [usa] in top 3 position. I checked this keyword rank in google usa manually, I also used cute rank software to check keyword rank. Cute rank also shows top 3 position in google.com [usa]. But when I checked the keyword "after effects templates" in seomoz ranking check tool, the ranking position of this keyword in usa shows 9th position. What is the reason behind this different keyword ranking position ? my website is http://fantazo.com . Practically , the keyword rank should be 3rd position in google usa in seomoz tool. Which keyword ranking position is real ? manual keyword ranking result or seomoz keyword ranking result ?

If anybody give me proper answer, I shall select him/her best answer.
