Often people starting out get a domain name bundled with a hosting service package deal (Godaddy hosting is nothing special) some tend to hold the domain name hostage when you try to change hosts, you generally have the right to transfer the name after 60 days.
Simple, if you are paying for a domain name you are in charge of it, generally people don't register it elsewhere to establish rights. Be aware that if you register yourBusiness.com others may get yourBusiness.net, yourBusiness.org, etc. U.S. cyber-squatting laws provide protection from such copies for corporations or businesses that have a registered name from which their domain name was made.
Why are you confuse, go with Godaddy. It is the best platform for domain registration, hosting etc.
Go Daddy is one of the best place to buy the domain names and it is also one of the most trusted place to do it. You can get many cheap offers from them in form of coupons. Follow the link to find out the best coupon which matches with your purchase.

Every register has different prices.
I found name.com is good. Why? Because they offer a coupon code to save on private registration (private whois). They offer domain for $10.99 if I remember and whois is for free. Coupon Code: PRIVACYPLEASE

yes godaddy is good for business
I'm currently typing my domain name ideas into these two sites:
www.123-reg.co.uk
uk.godaddy.com
I'm confused about the prices. For example, on 123-reg.co.uk it says I can buy one of the available domain names for 2years at a price of £21.98, but on godaddy the same domain name it costs £6.99 but then I click continue to cart and it gives me options like £3.49/month for a small business site.
I've never done anything like this before so forgive me for sounding like a noob, but basically, my idea was to buy lots of domain names for the owner rights and then potentially sell them on at a later date.
Any feedback from people with online business experience in this field would be appreciated.
