Branding in reatil segment is an important marketing product. Create your brand and then look out for this marketing you have thought. To your help brand will effectively work in applying for the orders from the big markets like metro and d mart etc. These people don't pay much and have many suppliers but if the brand goes into their eye you can get money rain but branding the product and making it cost effective takes a lot. Other option will be turnover policy where % of margin is less compared to retail but the turnover too makes rain of money
You should have a website for your dad, but it shouldnt be used in the way youre thinking. You should focus on the potential customers that walk through your store. You should be keeping in contact with these customers through an email list and then you can offer them deals or coupons to bring them back to your store. I'm not sure that is your best strategy, going on-line to reach a narrow target audience. Why not do more promotion locally, run events like mens and ladies fashion show at store, invite local clubs and societies and groups (here you can use online to promote). Make sure you are offering the right products to right audience, so classic clothing for mature people, trendy clothes for young people.
