He clearly is getting scammed by the agency and though I don't owe this man anything I am still a decent person who is willing to weight the pros and cons and come up with an agreement that benefits him and myself.
How am a I a possible 'nightmare' tenant...to expect what is being presented to me to be true, what was presented in the website is considered a lie. Renters are expecting a house to be in good condition not kind of okay condition. I simply wanted to know if anyone has experienced these situations before and would you help him...or at least find out if he's a bullsh****
A owner will have the place in the very best shape while it is being shown for rent- you are seeing him on his best behavior. After you move in he will care much less. DO not expect him to make it better.
This is why you always view a property in person and don't rely on pictures.
If you chose this house because it was cheaper than the other houses of a similar size in the area you have now found out why it was cheaper. If you want a house that is more up to date you will have to pay more rent. This is the same as everything else if you want an old car you pay less than for a more modern one.
I think you are a nightmare tenant. You want to report the landlord about a property you aren't even involved with? A landlord that's 3000 miles away?
Don't rent it. Problem solved.
You need to focus on you, not whether or not it's legal in south florida to market a house that smells like pee and the power is off. MYOB
"The power is not on and it's south Florida. I don't know if that is illegal or not (please if you know let me know where I can find it online) I "
What does that have to do with the price of beans to YOU. You are merely a looker and have not even rented the place so it is none of your business.
You would be a fool to go forward with this property.
well just address your complaints and ask if new appliances could be placed in the home, new carpet, and the home repainted b4 move in. Ask for a professional cleaning to be done.
or do the cleaning yourself b4 move-in, but learn to obo on the rent price, maybe a cheaper rent for property or rent an apartment, town house, or condo instead
IF you are so disgusted with the condition and out dated does not mean he/she has to replace a damn thing why are you even considering this place? Look the LL/agent has know all this crap a long time and if he gave a rat's *** he would have already done something about it all BEFORE ever showing it so go ahead rent but do not come back b!tching when things go awry and they WILL.
If the place is dirty and you don't like it = CHOOSE ANOTHER PLACE.
You don't need to have any authorities involved because you aren't even a tenant.
If someone wants to move into this place = they can. What concern is it of yours?!?
If they can't find a tenant, then they will research why not or keep it empty.
Are you asking, should you move in anyways?????
the only reason you would select this place is because it's the only place you can afford.
If it's the only place you can afford, you deal with it and clean it up.
I just recently looked at a house for rent and was very disappointed in it, the house is disgusting.
The landlord lives in Los Angeles and has an agent find tenants when nesscary. (he helps post pictures online and helps when needed) The picture though online are from many years ago. The house needs proper cleaning, bombed for bugs (because they are everywhere) and the trim in some rooms are damaged and need replacing. There's stains on walls, carpet and carpets very out dated and appliances like refrigerator and fan over oven are outdated. The worst part is it smells like dog and pee. The refrigerator smelled like mold and I almost pucked in the kitchen. It was awful. The power is not on and it's south Florida. I don't know if that is illegal or not (please if you know let me know where I can find it online) I took almost 25 pictures and the landlord was clueless of everything including the dog.. I am so disappointed...the tenants that lived here mind you a couple weeks ago transferred to one of his bigger houses closer to town and said it was move in ready. I can assure you it is not move in ready. I'm actually starting to think it may not be worth it at all. Let me know how you feel about it.
I am sure he will work with us and do what he can to please us. Has offered to replace carpet already...etc..well any advice would help. Thank you in advance!
