Do I have to tell my leasing manager this?

Well, how do you plan to turn in your keys? I presume that when you turn in the keys early, the leasing office personnel will assume that you left early.

If your lease is ending on July 31 and it is a "fixed" lease requiring you to to vacate then all that remains is to do a walk through with the landlord to show that the place has been cleaned and no damage has been done. If you do not do the walk through you would be very foolish. After the walk through you hand in your keys and surrender possession of the place.

if your lease is a fixed term lease read the terms and conditions very carefully to make sure you're not required to give your notice. Often with fixed term leases the lease automatically renews for another fixed term if you have not handed in your notice or the lease automatically rolls over to a month to month tenancy. In either case your written notice is required. The only exception is the one I gave in the beginning.

And yes you are correct, they won't prorate your rent if you move out early. You will already have paid for July. They will advertise for the 1st of August.

Huh? If you've completed the move out and cleaning, and "will not return", you surrender your keys, do a walk through, and officially move out. The fact that you owe rent for the entire month doesn't bar them from entering and turning the unit over if you move out earlier, and I'm not sure why you'd want to remain liable for a unit you've completely vacated and washed your hands of.

It's customary to give 30 days notice. If you don't do this, don't plan on getting your deposit back.

30 day notice tell em your out early turn in keys. what if you dont say your out and you are out, and some idiot breaks in trashes place, guess what your liable.

turn keys over, do your final walk thru, video record on phone, sign off

not later issues down the road..... no longer liable if burns down or whatever get sign off your out............ done!!!!!!!!!!!

My apartment lease is ending and I have to vacate the apartment July 31st. I've scheduled the movers for July 11th. After that I will clean up the place and will not return. Do I need to let the leasing office know that I'm leaving early? Does it really matter since they can't enter the apartment until after the 31st? I know they won't prorate my rent or anything. I'm just wondering if they really need to know. Is there any legal recourse for not telling them?
