The Restriction of Hazardous Substances ( RoHS ) Directive comes into force on the first day of July 2006. The EU Directive is designed to restrict the use of certain hazardous substances from electrical and electronic equipment. The restricted substances are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls ( PBB ) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers ( PBDE ). There seems to be much confusion in the organ trade as to the extent of the directive. The following link pipes4organs contains information which may clarify the position. |
