Newcastle is excellent, and I'm only slightly biased because I'm from there. The main advantage is the cost of living is relatively low, compared to the south of England.
The main disadvantage is the job situation, which is why I now find myself living down south. If you've actually got a job to go to, then that's OK.
Newcastle is a friendly party city. If you can't havce fun in Newcastle on a weekend night out, you should see a doctor, you may have died and not noticed.
