Why is Edinburgh always windy?

About 5 days out of 7 is always a fricken windy day and the weather keeps changing from sunny and warm to freezing fog and cloud cover in one afternoon wtf is up this city? Got back from Munich, Germany and enjoying 30 degrees Celsius and warm sunshine.

Scotland is a cold country. Edinburgh is on the same latitude as Moscow, not Munich.

Edinburgh sits on the North Sea, in a river estuary which points east. If we get easterly winds, it brings fog in summer. If we get westerlies, Glasgow gets rained on first.

Munich is further south than Paris. If you don't like it, then go somewhere "fricken" else.

Next to the North Seas, up North - lived here 40 years and got used to it.

30 degrees Celsius in Munich at this time of year? I don't think so.

It's a matter of geography and where it is. That's what you get from it being on the bank of the Forth - the wind is always blowing up the river.
