It became obvious during Maydan that Ukraine was on the way to hell. We had been waiting a miracle so much, but after 2014/02/19 everything went wrong, as USA and EU wanted. So, do not try to make Russia responsable for all those terrible disasters which have been taking place in poor Ukraine after Maydan till now.

Катя, зачем вы спрашиваете вопросы, если считаете, что знаете ответы на них? И, так, для сведения, новости по телевизору в России смотрят только пенсионеры. Вы лучше скажите нам, как в конечном итоге освобожденное от российских захватчиков местное население Донецкой и Луганской областей будет сосуществовать с соотечественниками из других регионов. Как можно забыть, что твою семью убили твои соседи? Чеченцам в России много денег дали. Украина тоже по этому пути пойдет? Или есть какие-то другие хитрости? Или вы думаете они там ждут днями и ночами благодетелей из Киева?

As result, the future can be completely different from our beliefs. Most of people choose to see only one side and ignore data from the other side. We can believe that Putin is the main evil here, but just with the same possibility, if he disappears, new even more bloody war can emerge. Sounds crazy, but why not? Why not to exterminate all Eastern Ukrainians, Russians in Baltic states, Armenians etc... Or why not to exterminate Western Ukrainians, Baltic people, people of Caucasus etc... Chances are as high as eternal friendship in Europe after Putin/Lukashenko/etc... Civilized behavior usually ends at the point when people stop to see other people as equals/humans/etc... It is very easy to make people to believe in any of these ideas. Including people of EU or any other rich country. And in general, may be meteor will fall on Earth any moment, or something else huge and bad happens.

This war will not end until Putin wants it to end. He has managed to convince majority of Russians that there are no Russian military units in Ukraine even after all the "Gruz-200" going back across the border into Rostov region, where many Russian troops go for "exercises".
Defensive weapons to Ukraine will slow down Putin's ambitions, but they will not stop him. Javelins are great, but new Russian military offensive equipment is not that bad either.
His short term goal is to establish a puppet state in the Donbass region. His long term goal is to overthrow the Ukrainian government and install another puppet leader. They succeeded with in in Georgia. They want to use the same formula in Ukraine. Without a united Western support for Ukraine, it is doomed.
As far as Russia goes, its not going to change any time soon. Any change has to come from the people, but Russian media has managed to convince most Russians that the West is the cause of all trouble in Ukraine by supporting a Fascist coup in Ukraine to install a Fascist leader who is intent on the genocide of all Russians in Ukraine. And of course there are no Russian soldiers or equipment in Ukraine, because all of it is either stolen or bought from corrupt Ukrainian military. Media plays the patriotic and nationalistic tune and its working well.
