United Kingdom Accounting Certifications?

I'm moving from the US to the UK. I'm already the lead accountant for a company I've been with for almost 2 years however I dont have my CPA. I have a bachelors degree in finance. I was wondering if this would be enough to get a job in the UK and if not what certifications I would need to work there.

I presume your company is sponsoring you for a Tier 2 visa? Otherwise you will not be coming.

We have several, all of which require passing exams (which your degree might provide some exemptions from) and demonstrating work experience. There are three institutes of Chartered Accountants (England & Wales, Scotland, and Ireland), Chartered Certified Accountants, Chartered Management Accountants, and Chartered Public Finance Accountants. The three institutes that give ACA or CA require you to train with a chartered accountancy firm. ACCA, ACMA, and CPFA can be done more independently but approved work experience is still required.

Assuming that you already have some kind of visa to enable you to move to the UK or that you already have a European country passport, otherwise you will not be moving to the UK, based on your work as you will not get a visa to do so as accountants ( trained/qualified to UK standards) and/or book keepers will not get a work visa as they are not in short supply and in fact many who have rights to live/work in the UK do not get jobs doing that as there is an overload in the UK marketplace. ... so even if you have the right to live/work you will find it difficult to get work and will before you could work in that job need to be a member of one of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants and to do so would need to come up to the standards in the UK to do so, so it may require more studying and passing more examinations

You need a visa enabling you to work first. There are no visas for any kind of accountants.

Accountancy is different in the UK, different types of accountant for a start. You need to work out which one you will be and which qualifications which you need to study for.

You need to check our Immigration requirements. Your job is not on the shortage of skills list. We have enough Accountants here already.

Hi yes not a problem i an sure you could get a position with many firms.

I will leave other people to give you the details of the bad news which is that you simply cannot decide to move to the UK. You will probably be denied access.

Work visa required, firstly - https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa/y/usa/w...
