How much is rent monthly in a cheap apartment , how much is a basic Mcdonalds meal , and can Americans apply for a job while studying ?
What city do you guys recommend the most ? I really don't care if its ghetto to live in , because I'm also going for tourism purposes
Have you considered what visa you're going to be moving with?
To get a student visa, you need a confirmed university place (see the UCAS website), and proof you can afford the full cost of living and studying in the UK - generally at least £25,000 to cover fees and living expenses. You won't get a loan or aid from the UK or US. On a student visa, you can work a maximum of 20 hours a week; not enough to support yourself. Once your studies and visa end, you go home.
To get a work visa, you'll need sufficient education and experience to qualify for a job on the UK occupation shortage list, with a qualifying employer to sponsor your visa. You'll be located wherever the job is.
As a student, and being international, a lot of Americans seem drawn to North London, although it is expensive to live there, I live in Southeast London and this is the cheapest part but still expensive. In Liverpool it is cheap to rent, but bear in mind there are barely any jobs there, unemployment is really high in Liverpool and as a student you won't get jobseekers' allowance, or the dole as we call it where I come from.
But if u get work it should be fine :) McDonalds, under a fiver even where I live for a big mac, fries and medium drink.
But watch this and then go to McDonald's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uHxRwQq...
@ doug b Pricing a McDonald's meal and comparing the cost with the average hourly rate of pay is a legitimate - if strange - way of estimating the cost of living. It isn't about eating at McDonald's. It is called the Big Mac Index.

@ Victor F US citizens can visit the UK as a tourist without a visa. However, to stay long term you need a visa. Unless you are independently wealthy you need a work visa. To get a work visa you need advanced educational and professional qualifications plus an employer willing to do the paperwork to get the visa for you. Unless you have the qualifications the only realistic way for you to stay in the UK long term is to attend university on a student visa.
You contact student services in at the University you have got an accepted place at, and international fees in place to pay, or you can't get a student visa. They have student landlord lists and those are the cheapest rentals. You apply for jobs the same way you apply for jobs in the USA, you will need to apply for an NI number before you work and you can work no more than 20 hours per week to HELP support your living costs
No. Thousands have no income, are outside the rule of community
councils, living a life as found with no expenses apart from barter.
Its only illicit when taken in-hand by the constabulary who by policy
reasons determined by the available budget lack resources to halt
absolute freedom.
If you are a US citizen then you will need to get a visa to move to the UK and the immigration rules for Non-EU nationals are so tight you are very unlikely to get one.
I'd suggest London. If you get a job, you'd be well off. If not, then yes, it's pretty expensive!
Just book a week all inclusive with Virgin and be a tourist in style.
Forget about living there.
Your age varies with every question 16 18 19, also your sex!!!
STOP TROLLING AND GET A LIFE !!!
