No more no less than other towns in the North West in fact it has most probably improved it's image in recent years.
I would ignore what Jack has said he seems to have an axe to grind for some reason it look a bit like he doesn't like having to pay to get into the pleasure beach.
Blackpool is in the North, and the North is rough, therefore Blackpool is rough QED.

"Manxbiker" has got it just about right.
Like many other towns it has its good areas and bad areas.
How do I know this ? - I have lived there for the last 38 years. I have also lived in other towns/cities in the North West.
I do know of rougher places in the North West.
Not so much rough, more a $h!t hole and has been for a few years, they have let it go since the Pleasure beach has bee charging for everyone to enter.
Sadly yes ...There are BETTER residential parts...
