Are 17 and 18 year old girls safe to travel in Europe?

My best friend and I are traveling to Europe next year to go backpacking. I will be 17 turning 18 during the trip and she is 18 turning 19 during it. I have a few questions. Is it safe? At our age? What mode of transportation (not car) should we use considering money? What else should we consider before going?

Varies enormously from country to country. In United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, you are safe more or less any time of day or night (but don't be alone or drunk at night). Other main European countries (France, Spain, Italy) are fine daytime and most of the evening, but get dodgy as you get towards midnight. I suspect (but don't know for sure) that former Eastern European countries are OK in daytime and in tourist areas, but very dodgy after dark or away from tourist areas.

Always move together, don't get drunk, don't accept card rides from single men (families OK).

Train service is Europe is excellent and cheaper than car, less stressful, and you see more, and meet more people. Absolutely the best (and most romantic) way to travel.

If you like train and plane its the safest.

Try avoiding crowded places, there might be pickpockets.

Europe is not so big,it can be seen in whole in a couple weeks in whole.

My nation is one of the oldest in Europe,Romania and it is over 2100 years old, lol.

I would stick to Western European countries..... However even then some places can sketchy!! I lived in Germany and a friend and I decided to go to Paris for the weekend..., long story short we took the last train for the night and was headed To our hotel.. As we were walking 3 guys started crowding us trying to idk hug us or something.....but it was shady side of Paris at 2am... So remember to know your surroundings ... Watch taken.......

Perfectly safe. Far safer than the USA

Trains go everywhere.

YES VERY SAFE
