First of all, tell me what you think of zombies. Ever met one? No, i guess not. Or extraterrestrials. Met any lately? You know zombies from MOVIES and a few stupid news stories, preparing the weird for the Zombie Apolocalypse! Do these people "talking about Russians" really KNOW any Russian person? Like your E.T.s, probably not. Why do they talk badly of Russians? IGNORANCE. (NOT stupidity, or being dumb, but- not being informed).
I am an American. After being in Russia since 1991, I can say Russians are somewhat better than Americans. I know drunks in USA, Russia, druggies in USA, none in Russia, but we have them, too- sadly. This is one little anecdote that shows Russians to have more integrity, believability than Americans.
I met a student of 8th grade. He speaks English quite well. Noise came from a house under construction nearby. I said that i liked the house. He said that is my house. We talked a bit and i said i need to go to the store across the street. He said that it was his store. We parted, and I went on. A hundred yards later it dawned on me. If an American 8th grader told me "That is my house...that is my store" I would not have believed him, whether or not it WAS his. The Russian boy had no need to lie, to pretend, I could see he was not kidding.
These episodes come up from time to time. Russians also "fix" things, where many or most Americans would throw it away. So I add that they are quite clever.
Look at American news, even if it is boring. SEE what is said about Russia. NEVER ANYTHING GOOD. Putin this, Putin that, always bad. Look at my former answers, on topic. see what i wrote that Putin has helped Russians immensely.
I married a Russian who was Ukrainian before Crimea was taken over so she is Russian now I guess. I love her family and I like most of the people that I come across so far. Bazars are the best!!!!! Russians love Texas BBQ yea I bring my own mesquite wood over when we go home to see family.

i'm not American,i'm irish,but i like russian people so much..
they have a nice culture,and also morals and values,that their parents teach them when they're kids,so they grow up having these values inside them for their whole life.they really love their country and try to save it from being full of foreigners cause then,their identity is not gonna stay the same...so,everybody hates them for being authentic ,especially americans,who are a mixture of cultures ,and they don't have something to believe in.
also,i absolutely love their language..it's been a year now,since i started learning it and i'm so excited about that..
but one year means that i'm still at the begining,cause i need three years more of learning in order to have the exams and take the certification.. пока друзья :)
I think the Soviet Union gave you guys a bad rep in History Class. I like Russia, I don't think a lot of people agree with me though
I drank with some russians once, they seemed cool. Duno about the rest of you.
I'm not American, but I think they are intelligent and charming people , nice and friendly.
You can be smart, handsome, kind, etc. But when it comes down to it, you can be aggressive and a heavy drinker. At least thats the stereotype.
