Traveling to Costa Rica?

Getting a passport costs about $110: http://travel.state.gov/pdf/PassportFees...

See this for travel info to Costa Rica: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw...

I didn't check to see if immunizations were advised, but note prices would vary so it'd be tough to tell you how much it would cost.

Check this for airfares: http://matrix.itasoftware.com/

On being 16, you will need your parents' written permission to leave the country.

There is an excellent site called flyertalk.com that you can use in your research, too.

-From DFW, the cheapest right now is Spirit, about $429. But they charge for everything, carry-on bag, checked bag, and choosing seats. Each way. That 429 can easily go to 600-700 with the fees. And it goes through Fort Lauderdale. Pay 600 and take American nonstop to SJO.

check www.kayak.com often as prices change daily, even hourly.

-No visa required from US. Upon arrival, you will get an entry stamp in your passport good anywhere from 7-90 days. The immigration officer may ask you how long you are staying. They used to give 90 automatically, but people have been living in CR and using the 90 days to circumvent getting residency, so immigration is more stringent now. But getting 90 is pretty easy if you tell them you are staying 3 months.

-No immunizations required from US. If you will be traveling to Costa Rica from South America and/or sub-Saharan Africa, you will need the YELLOW FEVER VACCINE. The countries considered at risk are: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Guyana and Venezuela. You can travel to Costa Rica ten days after the shot.

-US Passport for a minor costs $80 + 25 fee to the center that processes your application for $105 total for routine service (4-6 weeks). If you want expedited servce, add $60. Your parents must apply for you. They can do so at many post offices.

I got good prices with United Airlines and Spiritair.

Just verify the difference between SJO airport and Liberia airport, both in Costa Rica.

Because sometimes, I don't know why, but one is cheaper at some time...

If you're an American citizen, no, you don't need visa to VISIT Costa Rica. You'll do if you want to study or work.

All you need is a valid passport and a proof of exiting the country within 90 days ( airplane ticket or bus ticket in general).

I suggest you to have an update on vaccination ( tetanos, hepatitis, etc.). Thyphoid could be good to have as a precaution.

But there is no need of special immunizations required. As your hospital to verifies the cost.

Passport in Canada is about 82$...I don't know in the US. It may be similar.

Costa Rica is a paradise for nature lovers. I now live in this beautiful country.

I hope you'll enjoy it as I do!

Bienvenida a Costa Rica!

Cris

About 400. Dollars roumd trip at a discount...dont know about the cost of a visa but you will need a passport and visa if staying for more tham 30 days..a lot of people drive to PAMAMA and then come back to stay lomger each time..its an old trick that works so u dont need a VISA

I hope I can attend a type of teen Peace Corps program next summer in Costa Rica, but I have a few questions.

What would be the cheapest airfare round-trip To San Jose, Costa Rica from and to DFW airport??

Is an entry visa required? If so, how much does it cost?

Are immunizations needed? If so, how much will they cost?

How much does getting your passport cost?

Also I am 16, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!
