One thing you learn fast about Costa Rica is it is very very humid and very very hot. It is like a steam room or a bathroom after a steaming hot shower. Your clothes will stick to your back, your makeup will run and your hair will get greasy and wet.
Take it, but try to get a small one. You can also try to find out if the place where you are staying has one. The truth is that part of the charm of the photos of people taken in Costa Rica is the messy hair; it goes good with the natural background of the jungle and the dirt. :)
I live in Costa Rica and yes, it is very humid.
Even in the dry season.
If you go in San José and nearby, you'll be okay. Bring it.
If you go on Caribbean coast or Pacific, it is so hot and humid that your hair will curl even if you straighten it.
Have a good trip!
I have the same problem. I bring a good shampoo, conditioner, and gel for my hair and either let it air dry and go with the curls or use the gel and blow dry straight, then straighten. I've had pretty good luck with that. But I agree, the beaches will be worse than inland. Personally, I've been in a lot worse in Florida and Hawaii, though.
Take it just in case. You didn't say where you are going. Some areas are quite humid and hot, others less so.
Take it. Just in case.
I am traveling to costa rica this month and have VERY curly frizzy hair. Should I just not even bother bringing it? It is the "dry" season...
