In today's PC environment, it can get confusing!
When people call you Mexican, they mean of Mexico origin and not your birth place. No one in their right mind will try to ID someone's birth place.
A Chinese guy born in LA would still be Chinese.
If you don't like it, tell people you are Latina and spend 5 minutes explaining you are 1/4 Spaniard.
You are American with latin heritage, that's all. I'm Venezuelan and i've never been in the USA, but i know that for someones when somebody speaks spanish as native language or comes from an hispanic country, it becomes automatically into a mexican, so it's normal that the people calls you mexican, whatever, Mexico's a nice country! i've been there and it's wonderful!.

Chicana. there are many people like you, so you belong into the intermediary group between Americans and Mexicans.

I get confused by this all the time! People call me Mexican, but Mexicans are people that are BORN in Mexico.
I was born in Texas. My mother is Mexican and half-Spaniard. My dad is Mexican.
I have light skin, brown eyes, and brown hair.
So, i was wondering if im Mexican-American or Latina because my mom is Spaniard.
